Nesting boxes for the ringtail possums
Nesting boxes from Nangak Tamboree Wildlife Sanctuary are now up in the gums, giving ringtail possums somewhere safe to live.
This week we installed nesting boxes from Nangak Tamboree Wildlife Sanctuary, designed to give ringtail possums a safe place to live.
Nesting boxes are artificial tree hollows, providing habitat in suburban areas where old hollow-bearing trees are scarce. Ringtail possums nest in small family groups, feed on the flowers, foliage and fruit of many plants, and are extremely adaptable.
These boxes will help support the local ecosystem in Watsonia, alongside our garden of native and edible plants.
